The Nurse & Allied Health Recruiter will partner with managers to anticipate and meet the evolving staffing needs of the Howard University Hospital. The Recruiter will provide full lifecycle recruiting for nursing and allied health positions to include screening, interviewing,  extending offers and onboarding new hires. This individual is responsible for ensuring a positive experience for candidates as they move through the recruiting process and hiring managers with selecting new hires. This individual recommends recruitment strategies to the Manager of Talent Acquisition and assists with the development of the recruitment plan for various positions.  The Recruiter assists in evaluating and implementing process improvements and metrics. This Recruiter is responsible for ensuring compliance with employment law and policies when conducting background checks and hiring.  The Recruiter must maintain appropriate personal records and active use of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Manage full cycle recruiting process to meet the various staffing goals across all levels within Howard University Hospital. Interacts and consults with hiring managers in the posting/advertising, screening, and selection process of applicants/candidates. Provide regular follow up with the respective hiring managers and candidates to ensure timeliness of recruitment process. Extend offers of employment, negotiates starting salaries, and work to drive offer acceptance. Initiates new hire onboarding for pre-employment physicals, background checks, etc.
Develop and implement target recruitment strategies. Utilize standard and contemporary recruiting and sourcing tools such as job boards, social media, resume databases and search engines to identify potential candidates. Manages third party vendor requests, collects information and submits to Talent Acquisition Manager for review and consideration. Attends meetings, job/career fairs and other networking events to appropriately market Howard University Hospital and attract qualified candidates.
Track and report key metrics designed to measure and predict staffing activity. Analyze hiring and turnover data to identify areas for improvement in recruitment and retention of employees. Monitors the job market and prepares analyses and summaries of the main job market movements
Promotes adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct.
Attends annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training.
Participates in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements.
Actively participates in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities.
Adheres to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures.
Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and staff.

Demonstrated excellent verbal and written skills.
Knowledge of HR recruiting practices

Bachelor’s degree and 3 – 5 years of related experience required. Experience recruiting for nursing and allied health positions required.  Intermediate level of computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, required. Clear understanding of the end to end recruitment lifecycle processes. Experience using contemporary recruiting and sourcing tools such as job boards, social media, resume databases and search engines to identify candidates. Experience using applicant tracking systems, HRIS, and other related internal systems.
